Ailene led a hike for Meetup.com and another group in the Saratoga National Historical Park Battlefield in the full moon. There were 28 of us (though the group was limited to 50 and I had been waitlisted for a couple of days). It was about two miles out and two miles back. Mary Joy made this lovely picture of the mooon. Below are my best two (but I tried to use the zoom which was not such a good idea in the weak light of the moon). It was cool, but not to much wind and so quite comfortable and a beautiful evening / hike. Full moon at Saratoga Battlefield, NY. =0=

There was a 7PM showing of the 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' at the Palace Theater. The Palace (here) is an Albany landmark, opening in 1931 it well on hard times after WWII and closed in 1969. It was then taken over by the city and became a civic auditorium with about 2,700 seats. It was renovated in 2002 and is now quite a successful venue for live entertainment. It was raining that night and so I couldn't get a very good picture of the theater exterior. Palace Theater, Albany, NY. =0=

The lobby and ceiling (above) were quite ornate. I was in the balcony (here). There were actors who mirrored the movie on the stage and many of the audience were dressed in costumes (like one of the characters). There were also prop kits sold to the audience ($4) with items to add to the experience like rice to throw for the wedding, water to spray during the rain, etc.. It was quite an experience and my first viewing of the movie in a theater. Palace Theater, Albany, NY. =0=
