In early August we went back out to the to the Regional Food Bank's Patroon Farm. There we a good turn out of ten including my co-worker, Adrian, and his three kids, Dominic and Regan (below). Regional Food Bank Patroon Farm, NY. =0=

We were transplanting spinach this time and did two rows. They used the same tractor attachment as they had when we transplanted onions. We finished that early at 11:30AM so a couple of us (Joyce and I) stayed and helped weed the Basil (here). Below are the onions we had transplanted. They are huge (they are planted six inches apart to give you perspective). Regional Food Bank Patroon Farm, NY. =0=

I have taken a different route home sometimes, shown here, and recorded it with MapMyRide.com. This route is shorter and goes through a nice park in Colonie. It also goes on a twenty yard bike/hike path which isn't listed on google (yet). This is the route I take if I need to go to the library to pick up or drop off material. This route also avoids the really steep hills along Spring Street though it does have the same elevation change, just distributed slightly further along. Alternate route to library / home. =0=
In July I was able to visit Greenhaven Prison again and help lead a chanting and meditation program with Mario and Allan. I had trained with them over 15 years ago. It was nice to visit the prison again. The buildings were basically unchanged but there were different guys at the program, of course. I had several thoughts about my experiences there and wrote another rambling tale (oh my). We also went back to the Patroon Farm and washed scallions for delivery to the regional food banks. There were five of us altogether and it was a gorgeous day. Greenhaven Prison, Stormville, NY =0=

The next day there was meetup to help out at a local soup kitchen. It was most interesting, from 10:30AM to 2:30PM we helped prepare the meal, served it, and cleaned up. The food came from the local food pantry. The menu was rice with chili (with hot dogs), salad, bread and desert. I helped start the coffee, cut up the salad, serve the rice and chili with hot dogs, and cleaned pots. The people we served were certainly most diverse. It was great! Local Food Bank Service. =0=
