Trip to Korea

There is a voice description of each slide that you can listen to while looking at the slides. It is from the cassette tapes we made almost thirty years ago. I was pretty long winded (no rehearsals or editting and tapes were cheap) and the section for this page is about three minutes and will take about a minutes to download with a dial up connection. So might you not want to get it unless you have a broadband connection to the internet.

Click on any of the little pictures to see it at normal size. Click on the '=0=' after the picture to see it in giant size (about 2 minutes to download on dialup connection and larger than screen size). This could be useful if you wanted to really look at one part of the picture or to make a print.

There were a series of rooms with rows and rows of statues and busts, all most excellent. Above on the left is a picture of the side of one such room. Also above is a picture of a particular nice mosaic in the floor (we weren't allowed to walk on this section of floor). There were also mosiacs on the ceiling and this is a picture of one such mosaic. Below on the left is a picture of an interesting painting. It looks very much like stone, but is really a painting and you had to get very close in order to see the difference and probably won't be able to tell the difference in even the largest image. Next to that is a picture of a wall tapestry. Vatican Museum. =0=

This picture is of the Sistine Chapel. Below on the left is a mosaic of a table top of two ducks that we found particularly impressive (and most detailed). Vatican Museum. =0=

Above on the right as well as here is a picture of a viewgraph reproduction of the Sistine Chapel that they provided as it was hard to get good pictures of the chapel itself. Below on the left is a picture of the actual Sistine chapel ceiling where the colors are more muted and it is hard to get a good clear angle. Next to that is a picture of a long hallway that we found was a little ostentacious. There were painted murals on the walls, inlaid marble decorations in the florr, urns along the way and paintings on the ceiling being a little excessive. There were also windows which viewed gardens outside. Vatican Museum. =0=
