The views were really awesome up there. Above on the left is, I believe, the valley that we would often walk Goonie in. It was also very peaceful with birds and crickets as you can hear in this short video. Here is another picture of Szaron and James as they carefully tread their way down the trail with Goonie well ahead of them. After we got down, James and Szaron investigated another trail that went down into the valley on the same side as the trail but turned back when the trail was blocked by fallen trees and poison oak. We then drove on to the Bluejay Campground where there was a map which showed that the mine was about a half mile along the trail that they had investigated. Doh! Szaron, James, and Goonie. =0=

While the road we were on was pretty close to James and Szaron's house, the drive there was pretty circuituos (going around the ridges and such). The drive back had some impressive views of Lake Elsinore, shown above, here and below. Lake Elsinore, CA. =0=

If you look real closely in this picture, you can see the plane which is stationed at Lake Elsinore to fight fires. It can, apparently, pick up a load of water by just skimming above the surface of a lake and then dump it over the fire. It also seems that due to the current drought, they don't use Lake Elsinore as a water source to fight fires, but instead use other lakes in the area. Lake Elsinore, CA. =0=
