The snow was pretty fresh and had fallen with little wind so that the limbs were covered with snow. At one point there was a newly fallen tree that had not been cleared from the trail. We had to climb over / under it (not easy in snowshoes) as shown in this video of Amy. Charlie chose to go around as shown in this video. Here is a picture of Charlie. Below is a picture of Amy and Rich Merck Forest and Farmland Center in Rupert, VT. =0=

There were lots of gorgeous views of the forest in winter snow. Above is a picture of one of the tanks we presume are used in making maple syrup. Below are pictures of Amy and Rich as we ate our lunches (standing) during short breaks. Merck Forest and Farmland Center in Rupert, VT. =0=

You can also rent cabins around the forest. Above is one of the smaller and more primitive cabins (with lower costs, of course). Here are a couple of the maple sap pipes strung between trees. Below is a nice overlook of the farm. You can see more of the maple sap pipes along the left side of the trail. Merck Forest and Farmland Center in Rupert, VT. =0=
