At work they have had some most successful quarters and so we had a pizza lunch, baseball game outing, and ice cream social. The baseball game was Valley Cats! The Valley Cats are a AAA feeder team for the Houston Astros. They also have a series of promotional options which included a picnic barbeque before the game which was included for us. Frank, our new CEO, was one of three people people who threw the 'first pitch' (part of the promotion I presume). Valley Cats Baseball Game. =0=

I had never been to a professional baseball game and was glad to see this game. The crowds were not so bad as at many professinal games and it was altogether a nice family outing. I only stayed until the 6th inning as the game itself wasn't all that interesting to me and I had work the next day. Valley Cats Baseball Game. =0=

The ice cream social was in Collins Circle, a large field on the SUNY Albany campus. CommerceHub leases space in the SUNY Albany Nanotech Center, just to the West of the campus and about .8 miles from Collins circle. Most people walked over. There was a car (white and to the left in the picture above) which brought little cups of frozen yogurt for us. Several people practiced soccer and other sports. I am impressed how diverse the skills are of the CommerceHub employees, not nearly as nerd like as the common stereotype for computer people. After a bit, they broke us down into five teams (at random) and we had team building exercises. Interesting. On Labor Day Weekend I took the bus to NYC (Adirondack Trailways seems to have taken over the deep discount on-line place as Megabus was charging $56 for the round trip while Trailways was only $35). I walked over to Collins Cirlce after work (bus stop shown here) and took the bus from SUNY Albany leaving my car at work. It was an express bus with only two stops before Port Authority in NYC.
