Life in Portland, 2008

In early 2008, Krishna headed back to India and a new off shore contractor, Shyam, came out (shown above). We had a farewell and welcome lunch at Henry's, a local restaurant (also above). Here is a picture of my neighbor, Kate (she lives in the apartment next to mine). She had a birthday party and invited some of the other people in the complex. Below are pictures of her with her cake and her father. He works for the Forest Service and it was nice to meet him and talk with him (and other neighbors).	=0=

Early in 2008 they have been building the light rail (Max) line in front of the building where I work. Here are some of the pictures long with a short video of a giant jack hammer mounted on a backhoe and another of a dump truck with a conveyor belt to spread gravel (hard to see in the video but there is a picture of it here).	=0=

They are renovating the old abandoned tower across the street to be a hotel. They tore down an tiny building around the corner and are using the lot as a base for the crane which they use to raise heavy items. They also put construction elevators on the other side. I wonder if this will be an entrance to the hotel, maybe even the lobby as they can give it a higher ceiling.	=0=

They have continued to hire new people at work as well as integrate the old QA staff into the Account Management team. So above are Amanda and Carol who now help set up mailings (and so I work with them directly now) along with Jennifer, shown here.	=0=
