The Oregon coast is quite pretty. Above and here are some pictures from Cape Lookout where we stopped briefly. Above on the right are the Three Arch Rocks. However, I could only see an arch in one. Below are pictures from the Cape Meares Lighthouse. There are the same Three Arch Rocks but now you can see the hole in the other two. | =0= |

Close to Cape Meares Lighthouse was an odd looking tree shown above, called the Octopus Tree. THe lighthouse itself is shown here and above. It was a real chore to build about 100 years ago, but is not longer in service. There is a modern lighthouse just above it (not shown) which is just a huge strobe light. Not very interesting. Mostly ships use GPS now so there is little need for lighthouses anymore. Another popular attraction in Tillamook, OR is the Air Museum shown below. It is on an active Naval Air Station and is in the largest wooden frame building. In WWII it was used as a zeppelin hanger for coastal patrols. They had an odd air transport. It looked a lot like a C-130 to me, but the fuselage was much larger with no obvious openings for loading and unloading. It looks like it would be good for shipping lots of small light stuff like pillows. Why you would want to I am not sure. | =0= |
