Click on any of the little pictures to see it full size (as big as it goes). In Dallas there used to be a regular Syda Yoga Center in a leased space, but about three years ago they gave that up (the doubling of the rent certainly conributed to the decision) and started meeting in member's houses. They meet on first and third Wednesday evenings in Scott's house. This is Scott's living room as prepared for chanting and meditation.
This is Scott, the host of the Wednesday evening meetings. They will be having an audio broadcast from South Fallsburg, NY to many centers as well as Scott's house on January 1st starting at 9AM. I am hoping to attend that and get nice pictures of the exterior of Tom's house.
Here is Karen, who was the Master of Ceremonies (or just M.C.) on December 19, 2001. She is talking to another member of the group whose name I didn't get. They also meet to chant the Gurugita on Sunday mornings in various houses.
My brother, Mike, had introduced me to Syda Yoga in 1992, but has since moved on to other practices, most recently Tibetan Buddhism. However, he visited the local Syda Yoga group with me. Here he is with Karen (the M.C.) and Gary (an experienced computer programmer).
Here is a picture of my living room in NY after I had cleaned it out. If you look real close, though, you can see that it is not quite empty. There is are two plastic cups with water and plant cuttings waiting to be taken to my car (the very last things loaded). I had given away all my potted plants which I either had received as gifts or had potted from cuttings I found in the trash. However, my elephant eared philodendrums had been a gift that were then in eight separate pots and all still attached to each other (I would pot new roots in situ).
I cut them apart and gave away the plants but couldn't bring myself to throw away the cuttings. Well, those cuttings travelled with me to Detroit. Some were left as plants with Becky in Ann Arbor, MI. Then they went on to Florida where some were left with Esther as plants. Then they came on to Texas where they are shown here (same cup, it used to be two cups).
Here are the latest potted plants at my mom's after I potted them as Christmas presents. Will the remainder make it to New Orleans and then on to my cousin's in Missouri? Who is to know? Will I finally be known as Brian 'Elephant Eared Philodendrum' (a la appleseed)? |
