We have been finishing up Emmet Street. There are a lot of fine details to properly finish a house. This house was designed so that the first floor was accessable to a daughter in a wheelchair. The bathroom was laid out especially for her needs. It has a tile floor and lower walls which is unusual nowdays. First Dick and I put down the metal mesh on the floor (so the tile floor won't crack when weight is put on it) and then we worked with Frank (shown above) on putting forms for the sections of the floor that would be level (along the edges there was no slope). Later they poured cement just over and inch think at the edges, but sloping down to the two drains (which was pretty tricky). They sealed it with the blue gel cloth and had the tiler come in (here). He brought the tile saw (above) and worked with a volunteer as he did the tile. He works for Albany Tile and they donated the installation. Another tile company had donated the tiles and material. Here is the tiler working on the section of the bathroom which will be the shower (with a shower curtain above the track where the drainage splits). | =0= |

Above is the tiler working on the section just to the right of the shower where the toilet will go. Here is the sink area just to the right of that after the tiles had been put down. I helped hang the sink with Frank. | =0= |

Above and here are pictures of Ralph and Gina as they hung the door to the basement. Gina is a nurse at a local hospital who often helps us out Tuesday mornings and leaves at lunch break. | =0= |
There were a couple of two by fours supports at the base of the stairs which Al (shown here) and Frank covered with a nice hard wood case (Joe is partially visible). Below is Dennis and the stairs after they had been carpetted and hard wood railing added. Also below is a section of baseboard trim that I had added which covered the air vent in the hall in front of the bathroom. Just beyond the hallway is the bedroom which will have a separate entrance to the bathroom. The bedroom will have 'linoleum' floor. | =0= |
