The route we took went by the Downtown Community Garden (above), but we didn't stop as it was too congested to have a place to leave all our bikes. In that picture you can see the red headed college student who is renowned for having never cut his hair. Also above is Father Flannigan's Farm, another community garden. Below is a picture of another tall bike made from welding together the frames from two bikes. There is also a picture of a tandem bike made by joining two bikes (making a bike trailer for one of the kids). Father Flannigan's Farm. =0=

At the 8th St Garden (above) they were just finishing a plant sale which they hold periodically to raise money. Here is Andrew busily adjusting a bike while Mara was telling us about the gardens. Andrew. =0=

Next to the 8th St Garden was a "Youth Powered Farm" where local school kids worked and planted as shown above and here. They had a plastic covered 'green house' which they used to extend the growing season in NY (warming the soil is a popular idea in commercial farming now). From there I left the group and bicycled back to the start point. I passed the First United Presbyterian Church of Troy, NY as shown below. 8th St Garden, Youth Powered Farm. =0=
