Toward the end of May, there was a going away ceremony for the intern minister, Chris, who had been there for the last year and the Unitarian / Universalist church Above are Leah (the head of the children's church program) and Chris along with Sam, the regular minister (here and below). There was a reception for Chris after the service. After that I was off for a "bike blessing" which was just a few blocks away. Two blocks away I passed the Blessed Hope Worship Center (below) on the way (had to check the address to know I was not there yet). Sam, Leah and Chris. =0=

A couple of blocks further along was The Family Parish Church, a really cool Catholic church shown above. I was able to get there in time for the end of a special mass held for the three congregations they have in English, Spanish, and Filipino / Tagalog. They had wonderful music. I made a short video of them singing 'The sound of silence' (popularized by Simon and Garfunckel) in Spanish (so the lyrics could be much different for all I know). I also made a short video of their closing. I really loved the energy of the whole congregation. Here is Claire who helped organize the local bike blessing. Below is the closing procession to the rear of the church. Claire. =0=

There were about a dozen bikes at the back of the church on the right side (if you were facing to the front of the church) as shown here. Claire's mom (below) was able to bike over to get her bike blessed, amazing at 80 years old. Bikes to bless. =0=

There was then a short prayer for the bikers who had been killed in the last decade in the Albany area (about seven, three of which were from this parish) and then Father Tony blessed the bikes and bikers. It was very nice. I was happy to be blessed along with my bike. Bike blessing. =0=
