Toward the end of August there was the NE Sufi Dance Camp. Traditionally it is held at the Abode (in NY), but this year they held it at Abraham and Halima's farmhouse close to Athol, MA. Jessica (above) had been visiting Ithaca, NY from Oklahoma and took the bus to Albany where I picked her up and we left for Athol, MA. We took the northern route through Vermont and New Hampshire as it was only ten minutes longer and avoided the boring driving on the toll roads which went South to then head North. The drive was much more interesting. Above is a view of Hogback Mtn in New Hampshire (just North of Massachusetts). | =0= |

The weather was perfect, not too hot and not to cold, and most people were able to stay in tents. There were up to fifty people at the camp, though not everyone was there for every day. Some friends from Albany were able to lend me the tent shown above. The chief trial was figuring out how all the parts fit together. Meals were buffet style with the serving lines under the test shown here. | =0= |
With the much larger crowd, there were two outhouses for our use like the one shown here. I was happy to use the outhouse as it was quite well maintained with lime to reduce odors for a nice earthy odor (though you could definitely tell it was an outhouse). There were also two outdoor showers just beyond the barn shown here (and beyond the serving lines above). | =0= |

In the afternoon, many of us would walk along the pretty trail above to the lake (here) for a nice swim. The water was only a little chilly. There were those way cool islands in the lake which spoke to me and another swimmer in our group and we swam to the far island (and it was farther than it looks). It was great fun! We also had a meditation walk one afternoon. | =0= |

I made a video of us meditating in woods. | =0= |
