In July we made a couple more trips out to the Regional Food Bank's Patroon Farm. The onions were doing quite well and almost ready to harvest (as you can see below) and we weeding the carrots. They have to planted from seed (don't fare well with transplanting) and hadn't germinated well. They were overwhelmed by the weeds making weeding most tedious as you can see. On our second visit weeding carrots we were joined by about 20 interns from G.E.. That was awesome as there were lots of weeds and the carrots certainly appreciated the help. | =0= |

The farm manager has gotten the old tractor (above) working so that they can have a tractor at each location (they are renting land nearby, but don't have duplicate equipment). On the way back we routinely stop at Thatcher park for lunch and to apprecaite the wonderful view (also above). In late July I returned to SUUSI where I was again on staff. This year the youth staff was in an air conditioned dorm, Moffett, shown here, which is great. However, the main university cafeteria, Dalton, was being refurbished so we had meals in the basement of Muse shown below. | =0= |

It turns out there are two eating areas in the baswement and for the first few days I went to the more informal one (above) before discovering there was a much nicer one. However, both are more crowded than Dalton was with less choices. However, other than having two spaces (so it is harder to find a person you are looking for), I am happy with with catered buffet style as I can try more things easily with tiny portions (rather than going through multiple lines to get what I want with larger standard portions). | =0= |
