A group of us from the New Thought Singles Group met a Cathy's house in
Salem, OR to go to the Salem Art Fair on July 16, 2005. Here is Cathy's house. |
 |
There was a stage with a band playing and we set up an area just up
the hill and under the trees. Here are Tim, Barbara, Laurel, Cathy, Susan,
Vicki, and Marianna. Marianna also goes to the Syda Yoga Center in Portland.

 |
Some of us would go look at the vendor displays (there were lots of
them) while some would rest and listen to the music. Barbara had brought her
portable chair, but as Cathy was so wonderfully coordinated with the chair,
she often sat there. |
 |
Here is Cathy appreciating a really fine necklace that went with her
bluse wonderfully. She decided not get it. Sadly, this picture does not
do justice to the necklace. It was stained abalone and quite lovely. |
 |
Barbara was nice enough to take a picture with me in it (not very common
in these pages). They had all sorts of yummy food, with many more wholesome
options than you normally get at a fair. Most of the food booths were
sponsored by local charitable organizations and run by volunteers. Very nice.
I had a burito and sundae. Ummm good. |
 |
Cathy took this picture of me. Wow. I think it has been almost two
years since there was a picture of me in these pages. |
 |
Cathy was most observant and wanted to catch this picture of 'girls will be
girls'. For much of the event I was the only guy in the group (life is tough
but I did my best to keep a stiff upper lip and persevere). Tim drove up
separately as he was working that morning (July 16, 2005). The rest of us
car pooled up in two cars. Laurel and Marianna rode with me. |
 |
Here is the other carpool group. Vicki, Barbara, and Susan. |

In August 2005, the singles group had a potluck lunch and planning meeting at Carol's
house. At the last minute, Carole needed to head off to Spokane, WA with her son
taking his friend to college. However, she had set up so that Bob had access
to the house and we met there anyway. This is Bob's (and my) car in front
of Carol's house. |
 |
Carol has a really lovely house with an atrium in the center (shown here). |
 |
This is Bob. He is one of the central figures in the singles group. The
singles group is an outgrowth of the now defunct LEC (Life Enrichment Center), a New Thought church
that was wildly successful, really going for broke, but reached too far
(and went broke). So sad! We start our planning meetings with a 'check in'
which I think is way cool. |
 |
This is Anita. We were glad to see Anita as she has been very busy with
kayaking and such this summer, so it was a real treat taht she was able to
join us. Susan and I were also there, but the picture of Susan above was
better so I deleted (and my diskette was full). |
