Cathy was giving me a hard time everytime I tried to take her picture, but this picture of her 'bad hair' day was so cute I couldn't help myself. Cathy.
Rhona also avoided my taking a picture of her until the end, but finally she had pity on my determined efforts and let me get this nice picture of her. Rhona.
On August 20, 2005, I hosted the singles group pot luck dinner at the community center. There were a dozen people all total and we had a very nice time. The community center is nice. I posted pictures of it when I first moved in. Another member of the group, Ron, had his birthday that day and was planning on coming. So, Cathy got him a card and a cake, but then he didn't come. Drats. We did the cake anyway. Cathy will send him the card, and, perhaps, a copy of this picture. Cathy and Ron's cake.
On August 27, 2005, Cathy and I went out to scout out Silver Falls, OR for the singles group. Cathy took this picture of me and the first falls, South Falls. The summer has been pretty dry, hardly any rain in July or August and the falls were pretty small, but the trails were dry. Most of these pictures are of just the falls. I expect that on the next trip with the group I will skip the falls and get pictures of the people. Notice on the bigger falls that the trail wraps around right behind the falls. Cool! Brian.

The falls are much more impressive in the spring when the streams are full, but it was still very pretty. The North Falls is shown below. That is an impressive overhang with the trail well behind. Notice those huge rocks in the stream bed below. How do you think they got there? Must have been trucked in, don't you think? Silver Falls, OR.
North Falls. North Falls. North Falls.
This is Chuck. He and Susan joined me on the Silver Falls hike on Sep 10. Cathy wasn't feeling well and didn't make the hike. A couple of other people also cancelled for various reasons. The weather was great though they hadn't threatened us with rain. Chuck. =0=
We had gotten rain in the last week so the falls were flowing a little more. I made a short video of the fall though I need to rotate it yet. Silver Falls, OR. =0=
The day was cooler and just right for hiking. It was also cloudy so the colors looked nicer with less contract between the shadows and lit spaces. Silver Falls, OR. =0=
We also went up to the Upper North Falls which we had missed previously. Silver Falls, OR. =0=
