We were able to visit the Cathedral of St. Marco. I had to check my back pack before we could go in and through security. I kept my camera and took some pictures of the entry way, but once we got into the main area there were numerous signs (and pictograms, drats, as I can't read Italian) saying no pictures. There was even a security guard who saw my huge ancient camera and watched me suspiciously. :-) I wasn't going to take any pictures anyway.... Below are pictures from the entry way as we waited to go in. | =0= |

On the way out I was able to take a picture of the planks that people would walk on to get around when the square is flooded. They are about one foot tall (and so it wasn't just the cute butt that attracted by attention). While I went to pick up my back pack, the kids waited by the fountain (shown above). Then we headed to a glass blowing 'factory tour'. It was also mostly a tourist shop, but they did have a pretty cool demonstration. I took a short video of the demo. Below is a picture of the furnace (the rest of the store was air conditioned, but this room was quite warm) and the demo. | =0= |

These are pictures Nikki took. Above are more pictures of the glass blowing demonstration. Here is a picture of Jay with one of the manneiquins. Below is a candid picture of me checking out the menu at a cafe and a really impressive mask. Nikki got a very nice mask as a souvenir, though not quite so extravagant as this one. | =0= |
