A few days later they prepped and tiled the room where I had
scraped off the tiles. It looks much better with the tiles, don't you think?
The other person who works for M.D.I. regularly on this project is L.A..
He is an electirician (shown below). |
|
He is also seventy years old (and has had three heart attacks).
I think it is great that M.D.I. will let him keep working as long as he is able
(and he certainly is that). However, he does not seem all that comfortable
working with Mexicans and the painters (three or four) are all Mexicans.
That makes me a little sad as I like everyone there (including the Mexican
painters). |

Another company, Vector Concepts, got the contract to lay
the ceramic tiles. One evening someone ignored the signs and stepped on a
couple of newly laid tile, squishing the concrete so they weren't level.
Drats. Here is Sammy, one of the tile layers, after he had to take out
and reset those tiles. |
|
Here is what the main entry way looks like with the ceramic
tiles. Quite nice. I have also spent a lot of time moving supplies and such
from room to room so that they can do the floors (carpet, tile, vinyl, etc.).
It certainly keeps me busy. |

Rob (in middle/left) is our contact with the church.
He works for the church as their maintenance supervisor. The contract
for dry walling and ceiling tiles went to Tex Worth Industries (T.W.I.).
Next to Rob is Mark, the lead guy from T.W.I.. Mark loves to pose and
gets some great poses. |
|
The other person from T.W.I. while I have been there is
Mike (or Animal). They routinely work together with Mark on the scaffold
and Mike working on the floor. |
