June of 1977 was a big month for me. One day I was promoted to 1st Lieuntenant (as it was two years after I graduated from West Point and never mind that the entire two years as a 2nd Lieuntenant was spent in graduate school), another day I graduated with a Master's from M.I.T. and another day I got married (I don't remember the order, but they were three days in a row). Then Barbara and I were off to Nova Scotia for our honeymoon. These pictures are from that trip. It was very quiet and beautiful. Below are pictures of Barbara and me. I was pretty wooly after two years of rebelling from the clean shaven requirements of West Point... | =0= |

We drove part way to Nova Scotia (to Portland, Maine) and then took a ferry with our car to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia borders on the Bay of Fundi which is known for huge tides (as the bay narrows). We saw one but it looked more like a little wave (about six inches tall) on that day. They narrow part of the Bay is shown below. | =0= |

It was all very pleasant. I remember visiting an old coal mine, now open for tours only. It made me glad to not be a coal miner. These pictures were probably prompted by Barbara as she tends to be more in tune with close up beauty while I tend to see beauty in larger landscapes. We had gotten a bicycle for Barbara and took them with us on the trip so that some of the day trips we made were via bicycle. | =0= |
