We toured the Roman Forum a bit more and then met our bus. Below is Sabina with our bus. | ![]() |

Above is a picture of our Roman tour guide with Sabina. The bus then took us back to our hotel. We drove by some of the tourist areas, but it was hard to get good pictures in the bus. It was bright out and the glass often reflected too much from the interior of the bus. Below is a picture of Jay and Nikki. | ![]() |

Here are the last two pictures I took on this day trip. Above and here are pictures from the Roman forum. The picture on the left above was interesting as it shows how the Italians are now quite committed to preserving their heritage. Many buildings are built around older buildings. The Roman Forum seems to be about thirty feet below the rest of the city. In the past people would build new buildings by knocking down the old building (or it would burn or fall down). They would salvage what they wanted and then just level the remnants and build on top. New bricks and stones would be brought in for the new building (eventually raising the level of the city) while the old were just buried. I wonder if future archaeologists will be so lucky as we tend to truck away garbage and the remnants of old buildings and use it as land fill in another area. Below is a pretty avaenue we walked along getting back to our bus. When we got back we rested in the hotel and then went out for a walk. We wondered what the 'Blue Jay Viaggio' (from the yellow sign) was? | ![]() |
