From Bloomington, IN I headed out to Albany, NY. It was a long drive and so I again left after only showering and before dawn (leaving my calisthenics and breakfast as breaks along the drive). I followed the route shown below to skip most of the NY toll roads on I90 and instead took I86 and Rt 17 to Binghamton, NY. Here and below are the sunrises I saw on I75 in Ohio. In NY, I86 (shown here) was a quite nice road, but did wander north and south a good deal (so toll road would have been faster). | ![]() |

On this leg of the trip my car went over 300,000 miles as shown below. I tried to make a video, but failed. I noted on earlier roll overs that it took five seconds to complete the change which is the perfect length for a web video, BUT I started early and then my camera wasn't ready when I told it to start recording. Doh! Oh well, perhaps at 400,000 I will get it right. :-) | ![]() |

Rt 17 was the last leg to Binghamton, NY and was a divided highway as well with quick travel times, though it also wasn't real direct. It also got more scenic with more interesting hills, lots of trees and not many farms. | ![]() |

When I got back, the builds were back to Stephan St. as they have finally completed the houses on N. Pearl and Emmet St (driveway and interior). I had irst helped with the framing on Stephan St. then siding and interior. Here is Dick, Jim, and Frank installing the cabinets. We put down the floor underlayment for the linoleum that will be put down later. | ![]() |
When I got back from my road trip, Habitat for Humanity was just starting a Buildathon, a new thing for Capital District. The idea is that people get contributors to support their work. Here and below is a crew from Coldwell Banker Realtors. The 15 of them hope to have enough contributors by the end of the month to donate $3,000. The guideline is at least $150 per volunteer per day. Myself and the rest of the regular crew during the week continued on without contributions. Here is Hannah signing up the crew (she helped organize the Buildathon). | ![]() |

Our job for the day was to clear out the personal items from this house on 3rd Avenue. It will be a rehab as it right next to another house making demolition difficult. It had been unoccupied for about twenty years and there were all sorts of things left behind when the owner died without family (then the house was just left empty). At some time but not very soon Habitat will rehab it. Cleaning it out was a hot and dirty job. The stairs were very narrow and it was pretty dark inside (just the windows for light and only one window in the attic). We filled two dumpsters and generally emptied the house. | ![]() |
